Without spoiling the book, the protagonist's consciousness is somehow transmitted, albeit with bits lost, to the cloud, and then from another to another to another.

This most touching part of this novel was the enduring love between the protagonist and his husband that persisted throughout time. A stunning masterpiece from Anton Hur.
